Not to me. I liked Shadowrun because of the World System, not necessarily
the Genre that it was set. I don't relish the idea that most heroes take
drugs and commits barbarism to make a political statement.

But I do like the quasi-espionage feel of the game. Especially when the
Shadowrunners are hired to do just that (industrial espionage, gotta love
it!). Or even if the Virginia Farmboys hire a couple of Shadowrunners to aid
in counter national espionage. Sort of like James Bond with a cyberdeck.

Anyone else feels that way?

Heroes? Drugs? Political statement? Eh?

(Sorry for the short message, but that's just about all I'd have to
comment on this statement.)

Hero's?
If you say so.

And the characters that take drugs and commit barbaric crimes don't do it
to make statements in my game, they do it because they like it..

I think that is part of the appeal. The world is dark and gritty. Life
bites, and everyone knows it. Magic adds sort of a lightening effect, the
world is crappy, but perhaps magic can fix that...

Or James Bond with a fireball. =) Lots of intrigue and conspiracy,
immortal elves, dragons, mega corps, etc. Just need to find the right
mixture...

Actually, I kinda like the fact that magic came back to the world, the
world blinked, and then things just kinda went on as before. It's just a
tool, like anything else, to the folks of 2050.

Hey! I thought Shadowrun was better without the "inmortal" elves! But the
Intrigue and Conspiracy are right on. Anyone try to do an X-Files type run?
Mulder and Scully are both mental adepts on the trail of what?

An evil plot! Men at Work in action (MAW)!
