Subject: Shadowrun to Cthulhu by Popular request...

Well, this is the 4th or 5th time I've posted this... does somebody out
there wanna stick it on an FTP site or something?
NOTE: These conversions were designed for SR1. Some minor changes may
be in order to use them with SR2...

All of the following conversions are
copyright 1992 David Modic and John Dunn, use them freely, but please don't
publish 'em... we might wanna do that at a future date.
1) The basics--Cthulu's system is basically one of 3-18, like the wonderful
(NOT!) sytem used in DND. Shadowrun's is basically one of 1-6. So the two
quite simply convert. Take the Cthulu stat, divide by three, and then round up
if it's a monster, round down if it's a character (Cthuloid creatures always
are more powerful than expected, and humans generally weaker.) This will give
an effective Shadowrun stat that works quite well. The specific stat
conversion's go as follows:
SR stat COC stat
Strength=strength/3
Body = (constitution + siz)/6
Quickness = Dexterity/3
Intelligence=Intelligence/3
Willpower=Power/3
Charisma= this is preset to 2 for all Cthuloid creatures... they're pretty damn
ugly...[but they can still be somewhat persuasive...]

2) Armor for Cthuloid characters-many of the Cthuloid creatures have certain
points of armor--for simplicity's sake, it's easiest to just do a 1:1
conversion, saying that a deep ones one hit point of armor is equal to one
point of ballistic/impact armor.

3) Sanity for a Shadowrun character is calculated by taking essence (rounded
up) plus willpower, dividing by two, and then multiplying by 15. This gives a
percentile score.
E.G. Neil the Ork Barbarian, with his .18 essence and 2 willpower, gets a San
score of (1+2)/2 * 15 = 22.5 which we rounded up to 23, they need all the help
they can get.
This system has a slight tendency to give mages a rather large edge, so we cut
them back a bit, by setting the upper limit for SAN to 90.
E.G. Neddy, who by now is an Initiate 2, has a magic score of 8, and a 6
willpower. He would get a SAN score of (8+6)/2 * 155. That really doesn't
work for a percentile system, so we dropped it down to a max 90.

4) And now for the examples:
Deep Ones: Ugly humanoid frog type things... servant race, very common, we ran
'em with cyberspurs with poison injectors... kill things by eating, corpses
usually have jaws ripped open. sometimes leave green slime behind...

Cthonian:Big worm things (size of a house or bigger) with about 20 tentacles
of which 1-8 can attack and entangle. Dam:5s4/tentacle can also leap on
individuals in a good sized area for about a 8d6 attack

Star Spawn: look like a small version of Cthulu himself, around 50 feet tall,
fat humanoi, with bat wings, and a head that resembles an octopus. Can attack
with any spell, or claw(8s6) and 1-4 tentacles(6m4). Regenerates 1 light wound
per round, as long as it's alive.

Star Vampire:Invisible until it makes a successful attack, though it does have
an astral presence. Looks kind of like a wild cat with a back covered with
tentacles. can attack with 2 talons(3m2) or its bite which sucks away strength
points from blood loss, it sucks 1-2 points of strength/attack. After it feeds
its visible for 1-6 rounds and it can fly.

Great Cthulu: If you send this guy against your party--kill them. Can look
however he wants, though generally like a bigger star spawn (see above
description) if killed, will regenerate/reform at full strength 11-20 minutes
later. Every round, 1-3 members of the party will be scooped up and eaten alive
--no chance to survive. Every attack Cthulu makes automatically hits.
Cthulu may also be assumed to have every spell in the grimoire, and can attack
with both his claws (12d8) and tentacles.(9s4)

If you have any questions/comments/flames please feel free to e-mail me. I
have more conversions done, and alot more info about the mythos, but if ya
really like it, I recommend ya buy the game. Have fun, happy adventuring, and
have fun killing PCs with these.
