I recently downloaded the ROM of the old SNES shadowrun video game. Seems
pretty cool, but I was wondering if anyone out there has or knows where I can
find a walkthrough for it...I can't seem to get one. Also, what does everyeon
think of the game? Worth a couple hours of my life, or not?

Um. Not really. It BUTCHERS SR in a way that scares me (seeing as how
both SNES and Genesis versions were made by the same company...WHY), and also
doesn't exactly have decent gameplay.

I have to say that I wasn't fond of the SNES version at all. I do enjoy the
Sega game though. It could be better, but it is simple enough to allow
non-gamers to enjoy it too. It provides a nice little tour of Seattle and
familiarizes people with names, places, and the general setting.

Hmm....so the versions are different? How so? If the Sega one is better,
perhaps I have some downloading to do.... Well I figured it would not be THAT
true to SR, especially seeing as how the comment next to it on the site I got
the rom from ran something like "I heard somewhere this was based off a pen
and paper RPG, but I don't know about that." ::rolls eyes:: ah well....

The Sega version rocks over the SNES version. Although the archetypes you
can choose are kind of restrictive of course it is an old console game.
Hints: getting your character up in his computer skills will eventually
allow you to rake in massive cash and karma from going on nasty matrix runs.
Plus some crucial story info can only be found in red-level datastores.
Also, alarms are your bane. Do everything you can to either hide (in a room
or with an invisibility spell) until an alarm goes off. Of course, not
setting it off in the first place is better. Any non-silenced gun will set
off the alarms.

Wow, all that from memory. Rambled long enough. Time to go back into
hibernation.

You know, that's one thing I did find a little ridiculous (on the SNES
version)....you can pull a gun and start blasting away at anyone on the
street and they don't seem to care. But, as my original question stated, does
anyone knwo where I could get a walkthrough of the game? Any large archive
would be great. Thanks.

I heard the SNES wasn't so hot compared to the Sega game, but I've never
personally tried it. I can't remember the URL exactly, but I have a
banner for a web site called gamefaqs.com (that may be the addy...) on
my web page at www.neumedia.net/~sinabian . That site has a walkthrough
and I believe even a few codes for you to try... (It's the red and white
banner almost at the bottom of the page...)

So is there a PC version that is downloadable of the Sega one? I never saw
it, although I did play the Nintendo one to death.

Ask DV8 - he was kind enough to give me copies of both
games.

Btw, has anyone been checking out Mike Mulvihill's
"ShadowTalks"? One of them had a comment about
Microsoft (yes, the evil empire) having a NEW
Shadowrun game (not Assassin, but a new one) on a
short-list of games TBD soon and being very excited
about it - and this is a rather dated comment, as
elsewhere he talked about MitS coming out soon.

Played and beat both.

persoally, neither was quite up to par, though the Sega was much better as
far as certain game accuracies were concerned. And the decking for the
Sega was pretty decent, and blew chunks for the SNES.

However, overall... I had more fun playing the SNES version. It was
justa bit more interesting...

For some reason I don't have the same problem as you guys do,...I think
there were some problems with capitals in the filename but I removed them.
You should be able to download them now otherwise try the links below (but
