Well, here is my magic the gathering story.

The first case of Magic attack came when Jason "laughing boy" bought two sets
of magic cards. He then gave Brion one of the decks so that he would someone to
play with. I helped Brion with his first game since I have a nack for figuring
out rules systems (my players have given up agrueing on rules disagreements,
I tend to be right more often than not). Anyway, I decided that though the game
might prove interesing, I really didn't want to waste my money on it.

One night when role-playing fell through I visited my friend Gary and decided
that I wanted to play Magic (RA's and others had been visibly playing it at the
front desk instead of dominos). I rounded up Jason and borrowed Brion's deck
(which he had only used a few times). After a few games of magic, I was
descently hooked, so I decided to get a deck. Noticing that Brion was low on
material items and didn't want his deck,I bought it for 2 ShadowRun modules.

Later that week I also bought 2 packs of Arabian Nights boosters with the money
I had gotten from the sale of "AD&D Wilderness Survival Guide". I played a
few
more times before spring break, when the new Antiquities were to come out.
During break I spent $15 bucks on Antiquities, increasing my deck size by 1/3
(Brion's original deck had been added to alot).

When I got back from break I noticed that though the game was sometimes
interesting I neither had the time nor the inclination to play enough to warrant
spending major amounts of money on MAGIC.

So I sold my deck for $30 or $35 to a friend and haven't missed it since.
I then tried to keep hold of the money to by FoF when it came out but was
unsuccessful (I bought lots of comics)

Am I glad I live on the old side of the water. That stuff is just too
xpensive over here, so I guess I'm safe. The irony is that the cards are
printed just a few kilometers from where I live. So close and yet so far.
