I agree wholeheartedly.

When I first created my page it was a link page. After surfing the net
for a few months I realized that it was more or less pointless. All I
needed was link to the Archive and let everyone use it's list of links,
and a link to FASA to pay homage. Add my membership and link to the SR
Webring and that's it.

Of course, then I had to devote some time to putting some real content
on my page :)

That's the key right there as to why FASA doesn't need to link to all
of the SR web sites out there: They already link to the webring, which
is a pretty good method for getting people to like sites.

Paolo, before Lady J came along, you were The Man. Wait a sec...
you're still The Man. Now you're just getting stiff competition from
The Lady ;) Well, when it comes to links. Your Archive still rules as
a one-stop Shadowrun mega store. The Webring is more of an upscale
shopping mall :)

Anyway, I made a Shadowrun link page and I thought it was Huge. Then I
went to the Archive's link page... Then I deleted my tiny little link
page and added a link to the Archive from my main page.

And occasionally when someone with a new Shadowrun page sends me a
"I'll link to your page if you link to mine" message I give em the URL
for the Archive and tell them to talk to Paolo, cuz he's The Man. If it's
a good page, IMHO, I also tell them to apply for the Webring.

Honestly, if I'm looking for something specific, I don't bother with the
Webring, I go straight to Paolo's Archive (unless I knew specifically where
it is).

Paolo, who I can remember when he used to post to RN and TK quite a lot (or
at least noticably more than he does now), still has THE spot to go for
Shadowrun goodies.

Nothing against the Webring, which I'll likely be joining before the end of
the month, but Paolo's Archive gets top billing in my books.

Paolo's Archive are probably the two best overall SR resources on the
Internet. Gurth's Plastic Warriors and Avenger's collected stuff are also
quite excellent, as is Blaze's new site.

The Archive is a bit like Fry's Electronics; massive, has anything you
could ever need, but is a bit too big sometimes. The Webring is more like
a phone directory, listing them all but you've gotta call up those
individual sites to get anything.
