>>>>[ Hoi, chummers. Seems there have been some comments made about our
shadowtalk. I guess since I'm involved in this talk I could illuminate the
subject at hand. First I'd like to address a comment to Minotaur:
chummer, there are two accounts posting from node ALBION@****** and at
least three people actually posting in those messages. Some of the deckers
listed are NPC's being used in the campaign while three are PCs.
What we are doing is playtesting a series of modules that our GM has
written on contract with FASA. The shadowtalk that we are swapping here is
for others to enjoy AND TO COMMENT ON. We are playing in the Seattle area
(go figure) but we don't know much more about it than appears in the
Seattle sourcebook. Many of the gangs named by us appear in the Seattle
sourcebook but that is about all that is mentioned concerning them. By
commenting in this public forum we are not only discussing (and exposing)
details of the game we are playing but we are also openning ourselves to
the possibility of input from others. This gives other players and GMs the
chance to see what other gaming groups have done as well as actually
simulate the infamous Shadowland BBS (Shadowbeat). Information that is
swapped here may not actually be used by the local GM, but if that
information proves "inaccurate" then that only serves to further the story
line, doesn't it?
Now I shall discuss the local storyline so far. My former character,
Wildeblood, was a fixer/physad. He was known as the King of Hearts which
represented his position within the shadowcompany known as the House of
Cards. The House of Cards is not a large organization (maybe 150 to 200
people) as corps go, but it is known for it's efficiency. It has sold it's
services to a number of groups and has contacts just about everywhere.
It's effectiveness, cellular structure and connections has enabled the
House of Cards to provide services throughout the Northwest and thrive. It
is based in Seattle.
The game group that we have here consists of myself, two riggers, a
dwarf mage, a sorcerer adept, a leopard shaman, a decker/samurai (didn't
someone ask about those?...), and a merc. We accepted a Mafia contract to
rescue a Mafia princess from a go-gang known as the Roamers, based in
Puyallup. The Roamers were connected with the Five-Knivers and The Bloody
Gods. (Apparently these gangs are all local to our game group, they do not
appear in the Seattle sourcebook. But there are other gangs which do and
any information on _them_ is welcome). We eliminated the Roamers and the
Five-Knivers and recovered the princess. This drew the enmity of The
Bloody Gods, former special forces to the Tir Tairngire border guards. The
Bloody Gods have made attempts at the dwarf mage, Merlin, and have
apparently succeeded in their attempts on Wildeblood. [player note:
Wildeblood was a character who was deemed inappropriate for the campaign
and had to be removed from play. the gm and i have not actually played
this out so the actual storyline is unknown.] I am another member of the House
of Cards, the King of Spades. There are only 16 carded positions in the
House (one for each J,Q,K,A in each of the four suits of a deck of playing
cards). I have come to avenge the damage and the insult to the House by
eliminating The Bloody Gods.
And that dear gentle chummers is what all this shadowbabble is about.
No one here would be offended if you threw in your 2Y worth, and all
information would be appreciated and enjoyed. On a final note, I will ask
all persons involved here and all persons willing to contribute to label
the message subject with "SHADOWTALK: [whatever]" there-by anyone
receiving these postings will be able to look at the subject heading and
decide whether or not our postings will be something of interest to them.
Remember, keep your eyes open, your guns clean and always check with
your contacts before you go on a 'run.

We couldn't. We just said that.
Without your background, it was so much babble (heck, in my opinion
*with* the background it's still babble). Next time, just supply the
background.

Notice how the decker comments in all the published supplements have
background (what they're commenting on) and make points which add to
the presented background.
