one of those Killer Satellites was using a microwave cannon, or an emp version
of such a weapon.]<<<<<

>>>>>[ Herr Harlequin is absolutely correct. The EM pulse from a nuclear
detonation can only cripple computers whose memory is magnetic media based.
The revolution of the Optical Microchip has thus circumvented the old medium's
vulnerability. HOWEVER, there remains the possibility of HEAT damage to
electronic systems in the area; granted optical chips are not so susceptible
to the effects of extreme temperature as their magnetic predecessors, but the
chance does exist.
>Still, for such a wide-spread effecting of electronic devices leads me
to believe--extrapolating from the limited information I have recieved--that
it was the result of a laser or other similar energy weapon, e.g. particle
beams, x-ray lasers, and microwave lasers.]<<<<<
