Hell, If the Illuminati can run an UNIX internet node on a 486 class chip,
the above should work.

It's like the BBS entries in the book.

Many of this can already do this via FTP.

I suggest that you simply establish your bulletin board normally, and
familiarize yourself with ftp and other information search and acquire
methods available to you as an internet user. You can pull such things as
NAGEE, the TOME, and other archived posts onto your account and upload them
to your board, allowing non-internet computer users to freely access the
vast amount of information that has been accumulated so far.

You may, depending on your budget and time, also retrieve archives of the
logs and have them available upon request, that others who are not
blessed with the capacity to access the list proper can enjoy our great
heroes and villains.

I don't believe it's needed on the net. . .yet. I believe that you will find a
greater response by advertising within your own area code, describing with
detailed brevity the resources which you propose to offer (they are
considerable). But as an addition to this list and its counterpart, Shadowtalk,
I don't see enough difference in what you proposeand what the lists already
offer, except for the 'Empire' game variant you mentioned.

Hhmm, so J suggests starting what may appear to be a satelite of this list but
for my area users? Tempting. But I don't know how many people there are aroun
d here who would be interested. Out here in the backwater, being a computer guy
still carries the stigma of "computer geek". Good idea though. If people
would give permission for me to download and repost their articles on my board
I might do that.

What does Messr Hayden think about this proposal( you are after all the super-
visor here)??
What do all of you think? Would you mind??
I go now to ponder the possibilities....

'But sir, it is mud! We ran out of coffee thirteen months ago.'
"You mean that I've been drinking mud with sugar for thirteen months???"
'No sir! We ran out of sugar six months ago. You've been drinking coffee with
dandruff, sir."

There is nothing wrong with being a geek, and as soon and I get my files
back, I'll prove it, so there.

This has come up before. To distribute the contents of this list beyond
the list itself is a nono if the service is a pay service. Note, persons
ON a pay service can get the material, but, let's say, Compu$erv couldn't
start a shadowrun forum and mirror this material. That is in violation
of various internet guidelines.

Thus, if you want to mirror this material, you cannot charge ANYTHING for
it or for people to access it, because it originates from a 'free'
research network.

Also, I just plain don't like it, but that's besides the point.

Hey hey, Rob, no harm meant. Sorry, I was not aware of such guidelines. Oh
well, I thought the whole thing was a good idea. Well, I still might do it,
but I guess I can only really refer people to this list than. Hmm, time to
come up with another base for the board ( so to speak). Oh well.

For those in the Washington, D.C. area, or via the 'net, CapAccess
(the National Captial FreeNet, more or less) should soon have a
role-playing area, with myself and Eric Trager <etrager@***.gwu.edu>
running it. Trager will be in charge of the Shadowrun forum(s).
To log in as a guest, telnet to 'cap.gwu.edu' (email me privately
if you want me to search for the IP address), and log in with username
'guest' and password 'visitor'.
This message is being sent cc: the CapAccess Information Services
Committee <info-services@***.gwu.edu> and the CapAccess Board of Directors
<board@***.gwu.edu> -- please send all replies to this message to them as
well, so that they know the area really SHOULD be built. =^>
