Does anyone know any FASA or house rules on shapeshifters as player
charaters? I have never heard of rules from FASA on the subject but I
do remember some house rules out on the internet about it.
Please reply to pmenkel@***.edu and the list if you want.
Thanks!

i had a character that was turned into a doppleganger in sr by
renroku(sorry bout the butchered name)....never played him
though.....basically steve tinner said that i was a white blob that was in
a human form. After i killed someone i would take their form like a
vampire, but couldnt change back to my normal form freely. To change back
back i would have to go to renroku and they would change me back somhow but
it would take days. I can remember if i had fingerpints or not but that
was a big thing to me (tinner answer that!) but over all he is a pretty
wierd character who will rule in some adventure and not do a darn thing in
another. ask tinner cause he filled me in pretty well a while ago on this.
(sorry steve i had to dump this on you! :] )

In that run we had a party member turn into a hologram that can rig
when inside of his van ( he was a former rigger)

thanx 4 ur time

Alright! A topic I actually have some experience with!
I've got my house rules posted on the Internet at
http://members.gnn.com/lenoj/ssguide.htm#critters
Basically, Race Priority A for critters, Magic B/C if magically active.
Modifiers equal average rating minus 3. PCs don't get bonuses for
allergies/vulnerabilities. The one thing to always remember is to make sure
that they play the PC as the race indicates-Shapeshifters should be played
like predators in human form. They're a little deeper than that, of course,
but most of their motivations will come from animal urges. Revenge probably
isn't likely, but loyalty (like to the pack) might work as such a motivation.
I don't suppose that I've expressed anything anyone else doesn't already
know/agree with, but I'd like to add that shapeshifters are VERY powerful
characters. It might also be wise to make sure the player understands that,
as a regenerate, the shapeshifter may not use cyberware (or munchkinism will
quickly ensue:). This is not, repeat, NOT the type of character to give a
player whose sole goal is to kill things. OTOH, played right, it should work
rather well. Good luck to you!
