Does the Barrier spell move with the target once it's been cast, like the
armor spell?

Or is that the big difference between both?

Nope, the barrier spell does not move with the target, and yes, that
is the biggest difference between the two.

Well, <munchkin mode on> it doesn't actually say that they're immobile
<muchnkin mode off>. OTOH, neither does it say that any of the sustained
area of effect spells are immobile... So by this idea, you could also move
your Poltergeist, Ice Sheet, Phantasm, or Chaotic World. OTOH, it does make
sense that such spells are immobile, otherwise problems can crop up...

IMHO it depends on what the target is; on small targets (like people) it
wouldn't, but you can still mive it as a free action. But cast it on/in a
large target, for example the back of a truck, I'd say it does move with
the target.

I'm still a bit of a supporter of WYTIWYG, and this explanation fits that
theory neatly, if you ask me...

Yeah, true.

BTW, where is the ruling that it's possible to move a sustained area of
effect spell with a Free Action?

The actions table in the back of the SR3 Companion is the place where I first
noticed this possibility. Maybe it's in MITS too, but I must have looked right
past it when I first read that :)
