I am surprised and pleased to see that so many people on the list find skills
to be a high priority in character building (not character playing, not char-
acter development, but putting the sob in game-mechanics terms). However, I
wanted to state an alternative view. A lot of the characters I build (immeadi-
are disclaimer- I tend to play a gutter-trash sprawl scum, usually metahumans
just cause two strikes against them (from a social viewpoint) ain't enough-your
mileage may vary depending on character concept) put a low (1 or 2 SRI, D or E
SRII) priority on skills- having only a few skills at resonably high levels. As
for the rest of the usful skills, they just chip them. the viewpoint of the
character is "I never went to formal school-I was too busy learning the skills
of survival; and besides, I needed to dovote all my time to supporting my hob-
bies-breathing and eating. Besides, why should I learn alla this crap, when I
can just slot a chip and be an expert on any skill on the market? And believe
you me, buddy, with my connections, EVERY skill's on the market."

Just my 0.02Y Worth,
Jeff
