Here's another problem I was having in my game and how I handled it...

My players were the kind that got to where they'd insist they were
always sleeping in there armor, gun on the nightstand near-by, always
ready for the suprise attack and so on...

I finally ended up ruling that sleeping in armor (heavy balistic plates,
unforgiving boady-armor, etc.) would be too damn uncomfortable, except
for maybe the toughest street sam.

The rules I apply are this:

Trying to sleep/rest in armor requires a BOD test at the ballistic
rating of armor worn. The threshold for the test is 8-WILL. If the test
doesn't succeed , the character wakes with a light stun. T#'s for
sleeping off stun while wearing armor are increased by 1/2 the ballistic
rating (rounded up).

Anyways, that's the basics of it. Other ideas?

I would have a REALLY sexy lady walk in, tease the guy, then walk off saying
"Damn, its gonna take you too long to get outta that suite..later chummer"=
:)

Of course, my players tend to find that sort of thing annoying..and next
game, I bet 100¥ they will be sleeping butt-naked

Reminds me of something I read in the paper yesterday (no,this has
nothing to do with SR, though you could use it on your players if you're
a GM :) Anyway, this guy was sitting in his car late at night, and a
woman comes up to him and asks if he wants to have sex with her in his
car; it'll cost him 1000 Belgian Francs (about US$35) so he agrees. Then
it turns out the woman doesn't have any condoms with her, so she says
she'll just go buy some. She doesn't return, and when the guy checks his
pocket he finds she's stolen his wallet :)

Hm - I'd be annoyed, too, if someone managed to just jander into my
sleeping-hole. My character usually takes excelent hotels, mainly for the
security, but also for the (real-food) breakfast.

When someone insists of sleeping in AJ, let him. No chance to heal any damage,
sleeping bad, maybe an "unhealable" box of stun damage (until AJ taken of, of
course) every other day... should teach 'em. No need for rules - after first
experience they should no longer insist :-9

Yeah, if they are doing it in anything vaguely resembling a warm
climate, or if they go to sleep sweaty, inflict any number of disgusting
and /or painful skin diseases on them, a la "crotch rot." If nothing
else, an invisibilty spell only works if they can't detect you by other
means (Guard: "What is that horrendous SMELL?")...

Peace,

I don't know that I would penalize a player for this..During Desert
Shield/Storm I was stationed in Berlin,GE during this entire time I was
placed on guard duty for my site..Anyway during this time we spent 14-16 hour
days on duty and the whole time was spent wearing a Flak-jacket..During
breaks we were allowed to catch a few Zs..Nobody had any trouble sleeping in
their F-jackets..Granted a F-jacket is designed for a different purpose than
a bullet resistant jacket..A F-jacket though is approx 1 inch thick, when
first issued if very stiff and even after it becomes broken in is still quite
stiff..When it was all over and we were supposed to turn the F-jackets in
nobody wanted to as we had become quite comfortable in them..and without them
felt..vulnerable..It was kinda weird..I just thought I would throw this RL
experiance in to shed that sort of light on the subject...

I used this sort of setup on one of my players before too..The player in
question as well as his PC were preoccupied with what he liked to term
"Hooter Women" anyway one time I decided to oblige him in a bar scene..
Player asks "Are there any Hooter Women in this place?"..Yes at the bar is
one sitting on a stool..PC approachs female in question and asks if he can
buy her a drink..Female slowly looks up in a glassy eyed stare and slurrs
"SSure.." As the PC looks to the bar tender to order the female Yaks all down
the PC's front..It didn't get the PC off of the subject he was simply more
cautious about drunk women from then on.. :) It is a little hard to strike a
lucrative deal with Mr. Johnson when you stink like he did...

As you pointed out the F-jacket is different than bullet resistant
armor. Note that my rules are based off the Ballistic rating for the
armor, not impact which is used for grenade blasts, blades, melee
attacks and such, which is the category your jacket falls into. You only
have to roll when wearing armor which has ballistic plating, ballistic
cloth, the bulk of a bullet proof vest and so on. Which I think you
would have to admit would've been uncomfortable in your case as well...

If you didn't see the rules I came up with before this post was snipped,
here they are again:

Sleeping in armor requires a BOD test at a target number of the
cumulative Ballistic Rating of armor worn. Successes must beat a
threshold of 8-WILL. If the test doesn't succeed the character wakes
taking a light stun. Also, T#'s for sleeping off stun increase by half
the cumulative Ballistic Rating worn while resting.

In the case of plating..I would agree and support your house ruling..However,
in the case of ballistic cloth I would have to say it has much in common with
a F-jacket and should not require a penalty [unless the PC or NPC has had
limited exposure to this sort of behavior..in which case I say stun away] I
would say that only in the case of rigid plates being integrated would I
start requiring stun tests..Although, I would allow SoyCaf consumption to
relieve all stun damage acquired in this manner..As you are really trying to
reflect the effects of sleep deprevation in your game with this rule..Of
course I would not tell the players that..let them figure it out on their
own..say 2 cups per box of stun damage..After all a stim patch can do much
the same thing...
