First of all, let me say "The Blair Witch Project" is by far the best
movie I've seen in quite a long time, possibly ever! For those of you who
don't already know, "The Blair Witch Project" is an independent film that
won enormous critical praise at the Cannes (sp?) Film Festival and is now
being released across the country (USA) in select theaters. It is a horror
movie about three young filmmakers who hike into the the Maryland woods to
make a documentary about the legendary Blair Witch who was killed in the
1800s but continued to be blamed for mysterious deaths in the area. The
only evidence of the filmmakers ever found was their camera equipment, one
year later. The movie is made up of the footage they shot of themselves
during their last days alive.

Don't worry, that information is revealed in the prologue. I won't spoil
the movie for those who plan to see it. Email me privately if you wish.
There is also a pseudo-documentary being played on the Sci-Fi channel and
there's a web site at www.blairwitch.com. I strongly suggest that you see
the movie BEFORE seeing the pseudo-documentary or going to the web site,
but for those who are out of the country and likely won't be able to see
it, be sure to check out these alternate sources.

For those who are lucky enough to see this movie, it would make a good SR
scenario in which the characters (preferably characters that spend little
or no time outside the plex) are sent to a remote wilderness town to
discover what they can about the local legends (ie. Blair Witch). Make the
characters feel like the stories are nothing more than mere stories, until
they go into the woods.

The thing is, in a Shadowrun adventure, they're not going to think
anything is "just a story." So the key becomes making them think
they've got the real story behind the story figured out (it's a folk
tale about a grave-robbing, corpse-eating creature, so it must really
be a ghoul or two), then hit them with the truth (it's something
completely different that might actually scare them).
