I pretty much allow my players any sort of gun they want, within reason (no
Assault Cannons for beginning characters [unless they got a *REAL* good reason
why they should have it] and no Assault Rifles with under-barrel gren
launchers with a concealability of *9* (!!!!!). [You and I've been over this
before Bull ;] ). There are a number of different small, full-caliber (.45
ACP, .40 Smith & Wesson, 9mm. Not .380, .22 LR, .25, et cetera) that are
available on the market today and are extremely concealable. A good resource
for GM's or players who aren't ironmongers like DaddyBlues and myself is the
Gun Digest, which is published annually in the U.S. and Jane's Small-Arms (for
those not in the U.S.). You can usually find them at libraries and bookstores
and they are both comprehensive enough to provide the basics of slugthrowers.

But, if what you know is good enough for you, that's all it has to be.

Personally, I upped the damaged on firearms in my game, given what I know
about the subject and the damages listed. It also tends to make characters
less prone to shooting unless they absolutely have to (Barring the fact that
the cops, sec-guards, and anyone else with a shooter would suddenly become
*very* interested in putting them down).

It is kind of fun to see there faces when they realize that they used up all
their free resusitations on their DocWagon Platinum contract in the first
month they had it and that their treatment and hospitialization ate up all
their nuyen and put them in hock to a Mafia Loan Shark ;]

But that's just my 2¢ and I talk too much....
