Personally, I always liked the 4-shot COP derringer in .357 Magnum as a
secondary back-up. It's small size limits controllablity in the Magnum caliber
(the .22 version is nowhere near as difficult to hang on to), but it does pack
a big punch for it's size. Like I said, it is relatively small for a Magnum
caliber pistol and it's short barrels limit the effective range, so it's best
as a 'third gun' or 'secondary back-up/ hold-out'.
Back OT, I prefer to equip my characters with a hold-out if the are
Gunbunnies, so a Hold-out like the COP derringers would do something like the
full 9M damage from a Heavy Pistol class round.RL cost is something like
$300-450 U.S. and it holds four rounds in four chambers using a revolving
firing-pin system to move the striker to each barrel (there's also a .22 Long
rifle version, which would fit into the Hold-Out category in SR [4L]and
also,IIRC, a 9mm version, which would probably do damage as a Light Pistol
[6L]).
But, as always, it's a GM call (start bribing).

Another is the Simmerling LM-4. It is a .45 ACP with a 6 or 8 shot clip, I
can't remember. It fits in the palm of your hand. The only negatives are the
single shot firing and the fact that the barrel is less than 5 inches. Hollow
point rounds in .45 caliber don't open up as well in barrels under 5 inches.
It is quite expensive too. The last time I priced one which was about 5 years
ago, it sold for $1200. I don't even know if they make them anymore.

As a GM I would allow both in play because of the SS firing. As full-blown SA
I wouldn't allow that kind of firepower in such a small package. Both guns
would rate at least an 8, probably a 9 in concealability. I would also put a
nasty recoil on them, especially the .357.
