:> Quick firearms question - can you combine a smartlink with a laser
:> sight? Doesn't say you can't, just seems too easy to me...also you'd
:> have 2 things showing you where the gun was pointing - a laser dot,
:> and a cross in your field of vision - wouldn't one be redundant?

Read the description of the laser sight, p. 281, SR3. "Laser sights may
not be used with a smartlink system". I've been known to mis-interpret
rules, but, well, that sounds to me like it says you can't combine them.

Cheers, Mr Mongoose - I knew it had to be there somewhere!

While I'm at it:

Erm, no, Completely wrong. In SR3 ( I'll get a page # tomorrow) it
states as canonical fact that you *can* see and hear on the astral plane.
None of the other senses work, but sight and hearing do.
That's how you talk to people there! Note that I don't mean you can see
and hear what's happening on the physical plane - I'd suggest that it's
one or the other - astral perception or normal perception, not both at the
same time. Then again, the planes are overlaid, so you can still shoot
at people etc. when perceiving astrally, it's just a bit harder (hence the
+2 TN).

As for where the senses originate from - you have an idealised astral form
on the astral plane - your 'true' form. I'd say the senses originate from where
they do normally, anatomically speaking - it's be a bit of a head f*ck seeing
out of your hands! A blindfold...hmmm....well, you can *pass* through things
on the astral plane, but you can't *see* through them, unless they're glass etc
(remember that rule about properties being similar - forget what its called),
so a blindfold will still work on the astral... The whole idea of someone
being able to see through any part of their aura is simply wrong, IMO - you
aren't a featureless ball on energy on the astral - you're an anthromorphic
shape - or not, mebbe... <evil grin>

Here's a kicker - shapeshifters. Blindfold a weretiger (human form), and then on
the astral plane he's a tiger - is the blindfold still in place? Hmmm...given that
people tied up can still astrally project and go walkies, I'd have to say that
blindfolds prevent people from astrally perceiving, UNLESS they can project and
move *through* the blindfold - so a mage hood, which prevents astral projection
'cos of the 90dB white noise etc. will stop perception and projection...

James.
