The range sounds a little short to me. (We had targets out at 350 m
with M16a1's and iron sights). There was a big discussion about this a
few months ago. I know that snipers can engage out to _at least_ 1000 m,
depending on the rifle used.

Note that the Barret .50 cal was used at extreme ranges (1200+ m) in Desert
Storm, but the targets engaged were vehicles (BMP's). Hitting a man that
far out is pretty exceptional.

This doesn't include all the neat gadgets that Shadow Runners have available
to them.

Well, modern tanks have wind sensors that feed info to the fire control
computer, which them makes adjustments to correct for windspeed. I imagine
that the computer part of the smartlink can take wind speed and direction
into account, and place the cross hairs appropiately.
