Now that I can breath again, I can put my 0.02c in the ring.

I had an older .306 rifle I hunted with that I put a real nice scope on.
Can't remember the name offhand. Might of been Optix or something obscure
like that. It was sweet. Mag was around x15 and my dad sighted it perfect.
Weelllll, the first day of deer season I missed a shot, clean. Shot was
50 yards. Cake for that .306. And I knew I was not that bad. So I targeted
that night. Sure enough the sight had moved. All that from walking about
1 mile. No bumps or anything. (It was a new gun!).

So from my experience hunting, I would say that something with such an
optics system may be very delicate in terms of targeting. What may be just
a small deviation from ANY sudden impact or jostle may in effect knock
the optics off. Now think about the range of sniping rifles compared to
hunting rifles (SR).

I am a pretty big guy (6'8" and 260#) and the only gun that I have shot that
actually effected my shot from recoil was my father's 8ga. Slugs from that
thing really rip your arm off and I can't hit anything. But, that is a
shotgun. I have yet to experience any effect from anything like a .308.

Compare the shells. 7.62mm versus a .308. That .308 travels a hell of a lot
faster and that 7.62 is also smaller. More weight, faster. It just sort of
compounds.

Man, I can't wait till Thanksgiving and I get my two days of hunting in.
