I just noticed that the So-Cal Gen-Con registration page
opened a week or so ago and that the bulk of the
Shadowrun games listed are under Bull's name.

It's not obvious to me, so I thought I'd ask: Are any of
the events planned going to be tournaments, or are they
all one-shots?

Thanks.

It's in Anaheim, CA (just south of Los Angeles) on Dec 11-14.
See www.gencon.com for more information and to register.

Heya Mike! :]

"A Mickey Mouse Run" is going to be a 6 hour, single day tournament. It's
only designed for 4 teams of 6, so if you're interested, sign up quick :]

We decided not to do a full blown, multi day tourney there for a couple
reasons. The first is that simply put, we don't have the manpower
:] We're only going to have like 8 GMs there to run demos, one shots, and
the Tourney, so... Doing a bigger tourney would pretty much kill our
ability to do anything else :]

The other is that right now GC SoCal is an unknown quantity right now. We
don't know what kind of turn out the con is going to get, let alone the
games themselves. Hopefully it will be decent, but I doubt it will come
come anywhere near the size and turn out of the "normal" Gen Con. I'll
honestly be surprised if it's any bigger than Origins (WHich, with 10,000+
attendance, isn't bad still :)).

The one day, "mini-tourney" is something we're going to be switching to for
Origins next year, so this is something we're testing a bit for
GCSC. Unfortunatly at Origins while we do decent with One shots and the
like, the turn out for the Tourney in general has always been slim, so
we're trimming back to focus our time and resources on other games.

Regardless, I should be there (It's not 100% yet, depends on money, but I'm
planning to be there one way or another :)). We'll also have Rich Tomasso
and Mike "Buck" Buckalew there from RN here GMing :] ANd we'll definately
have to hang out :]

Anyone else going?

You all know my story. If I was still in San Diego I would go (easy enough,
just take the train up there). As it stands, I'm trying to talk my cousin
into going but he might be getting a job. And getting money is more
important then cons.
(Because with more money we can buy more books).

Ok, here's a thought... For those that are going and kinda know the
area... Can anyone suggest a decent restaurant/bar within a couple blocks
of the convention center (Or the Jolly Roger hotel, where my GM crew is
staying)? Someplace like Jillians or Dave & Busters would be ideal,
actually...

If so, maybe we can set up some kind of hang out one night (Or Wednesday
night before the con, which is my usual "Big meet & greet party night" at
the cons :))

The Block is the nearest mall/hang out. Its less a
mall and more a huge movie theater, a Dave and
Busters, and crap like that. There is also Downtown
Disney right there, but having never been there (even
though I live two blocks away) I can't say if it is
good or not (though I do know that it bombed pretty
bad and Disney lost a lot of money on it, I just have
no personal experiance there). There are a few more
places, but the Block would likely be one of the
better ones.

Cool. We've already met the manager and critiqued his establishments choice of music on
both the dancefloor and the toilets. Plus he seemed okay. That and we managed to get away
without paying the bar tab. :D
