Has anyone ever thought about this? Software piracy is rampant now,
but think what it would be like with matrix connections? My guess is piracy
would still be a big thing, because alot of 'in demand' programs would be
illegal anyways. Either SRII or VRII mentioned deckers 'swapping programs
in a hackers heaven'. I may write a module for my campaign where my players
have to a) stop some software piracy, or b) physically pirate a VERY
important chip. Any ideas on this?

Ah.. yes, anybody who thinks Software Piracy on the Matrix would
have died off is probably in need of a good slap or two. If you've ever
read Reality Check Network (THE warez mag) you'll have read some of the
interviews they've conducted with software companies. In general while
software companies aren't all that happy with Internet piracy they're more
concerned with physical piracy (companies who burn pirated software onto
CD's and sell them). If anything I'd say that while piracy is still around
in 2050 the software is harder to crack and the places you can get pirated
software are hidden better. This would because it's a lot easier to trace
and kill someone than it is today. Umm.. that's my opinion.
