1) If an human adept has a quickness of 4 and a quick boost of 8 (2 full
points) if he raises his quickness to 5 what happens Does he a) go above
double his race max b) does he get the .25 back to assign elsewhere

2) When splitting the sorcery dice of a force 6 spell twice (3 die each)
does the targets resist the spell as if the force of the spell had been
split in half or do both targets resist a force 6 spell.

3) When creating a familiar as an ordeal it says that the familiar does "not
cost a magic point" my GM has taken this to mean that the initiating mage
does not get a magic point increase instead.
But I can find no confirmation of this in the books
Does anyone know?

4) In sr3 the rules state that a mage capable of masking can mask the
fact the he is astral perceiving. It does not in sr2 but I think it implies
it. Has the rule changed from sr2 to sr3 or has it just been clarified?

5) Leonization in shaddowtech it says that at the end of the process that
you end up in a body that is 21 years old but from the novel (burning
bright) I read that it is not that effective is there any info from the
other books that I am missing.

6) In sr2 when two astral travailing mages meet each other and fight can one
mage target an unmasked foci and have that spell ground out at that mages
body

According to nonie mouse, on Tue, 04 Jun 2002 the word on the street was...

> 1) If an human adept has a quickness of 4 and a quick boost of 8 (2 full
> points) if he raises his quickness to 5 what happens Does he a) go above

He would have a Quickness of 12 for as long as the boost is active, I'd
say, and have one point of Quickness boost that he's not actually using. He
wouldn't get the 0.25 points back, though -- at least, not if I were the
GM :)

You're casting the spell twice, using half your dice for each, so both
targets would resist a Force 6 spell: you're splitting your Sorcery skill,
not the spell.

This is one of those things that have been debated quite a lot in the past,
and my conclusion is that each side of the argument can be supported
equally well... (The same thing goes for the Karma cost: does the Karma
spent on the ordeal pay for the ally, or do you need to spend that same
amount _again_ to conjure it?)

Anyway, my view on it is that the character does get a Magic point, as well
as an ally. But I'll probably be proven wrong by some errata sheet that I
didn't even know existed :)

Clarified, I think. SRII left quite a lot of details unanswered, and SR3
plugs many of those holes.

"Artistic license" covers it, I think. A lot of things in the novels happen
in such a way that they don't actually follow the game rules, but you're
best off sticking to what it says in the rulebooks rather than in the
novels when it comes to having your character do stuff.

Yes, by casting a physical spell at the focus. Only a physical area-effect
spell will ground out into a full area effect at the location of the
magician's body, though; physical non-area-effect spells and IIRC also mana
area-effect spells will damage only the focus' user, but not anyone nearby,
if they ground out through the focus.

Both targets resist a Force 6 spell.

IIRC, this has been scrapped in SR3... But "the truth" about Leonization
is whatever your GM wants it to be. I guess it was one of those things
shadowrunners weren't supposed to get, it was there just to add color to
the setting.
