Ouch. That sucks. Though technically she has the right to let the
guy die, you should first talk to her about not mixing RPGs with RL (since
it looks like that's what she's doing...). But *if* her character has a
valid reason to refuse casting the spell (they're part of the same team, so
it's unlikely...) well... it's up to you. Ask the player : if he's grown
tired of this char, then don't hesitate : let him die. Else, you could use
your GM powers to try keeping him alive. Make NPC's not attack him at all,
or with stunning weapons... You'll find a way.

Hmmm...that makes it a little tougher. :Let me offer up some hard-earned
advice. If "he" can't trust her, then neither should you. Just personal
experience here. Take it with as many grains of salt as you want, especially
from me, the asshole of the hour. ::cheesy grin:: It's still my personal
opinion though that that sort of thing crosses that line between RP and RL.
The choice is yours, ultimately, but personally I still wouldn't. By the way,
sorry about the spelling comment. It wasn't specifically aimed at you, but it
was still bad form.

Honestly this sounds as bad as killing him off to me. It's just as
unfair and heavy handed, but here the unfairness is to the rest of the
party. I say roll the dice and let the bullets hit where they may. If the
people involved have RL problems then, as has been said before, handle them
in RL not in the game.

It may come down to the fact that these two people just cannot game
together. I've been in that spot before (only time I seriously considered
murder, and of course it's over stupid shit like roleplaying), it's tough.
But unless the real world problems get dealt with I think the in game ones
are gonna continue.

<Avoids the line down the side crap>

It sounds to me like he will manage to get himself killed fairly soon since some of the
party don't like him. I think I would just let things resolve themselves, and not go out
of my way. Although, putting them on a tougher than normal run would probably have the
desired effect.

According to Max 'Wild_Cat' Noel, on Sat, 11 Nov 2000 the word on the street was...

I wouldn't say that too soon... In my group, it's more the rule than the
exception that the characters can't get along with each other. For some
reason that hasn't stopped them from saving each other's lives when they
needed to, though. (At least, not very often :)

Why would the GM need to kill off a character that the player doesn't want
to play anymore? You can if you want to, but it's just as easy for the
player to retire the character in some other way -- all it takes is
something along the lines of "Guys, I don't want to run the shadows
anymore. See you later." and creating a new character.
