Greetings all,

I am trying to remember which book had a piece of art by Tim Bradstreet in
it with a subtitle ".30 Caliber Fetish." I would have sworn it was in the
1st ed. rulebook. But a friend of mine brought over a copy and it wasn't
there. (It was the HC version. Did the hardcover interior differ from the
softcover?)

I am left with the guess that maybe it was in the 1st ed. Grimoire?

Help?

I just checked Bradstreet's Maximum Black Art Book. I didn't see
anything titled ".30 Caliber Fetish." Have you checked the SR art book?
I'm guessing that the subtitle is seperate from the artwork and is not
the original title of the artwork.

Thanks for checking. Yeah, the piece itself is untitled (I own it).
Whichever book had the piece in it had the subtitle printed below it. I
just want to find the book to use it as a visual reference for the piece.

If you can describe it, maybe someone can remember where it is ...

Thats pretty uncommon, excepting for color plates, and I don't recall
Bradstreet doign any Shadowrun color plates.

Bradstreet did a suprising amount of work in early Shadowrun books;
maybe its form the 1st edition Grimoire? That is one I don't have on my
shelf.

According to Atis Kleinbergs, at 17:26 on 20 Oct 99, the word on the
street was...

The first printing hardcover had a few pieces of art that were removed in
later printings of the book (i.e. the second printing hardcover, and all
softcovers). However, I'm not sure the piece you'r referring to is one of
the removed ones.

The title doesn't mean much to me, but there is art on page 56 of the
first-edition Grimoire of somebody about to get hit by a magical object
type thing, and the text in the same column mentions a ".40 caliber
fetish" -- is that it?

If not, what does the art look like? That might help us track it down.

No, it was not a color plate. And, unless I am completely constructing
false memories, it did have a caption. The only other place I may have
seen a title for the piece was at the art show where I bought it. Sorry
for the uncertainty. I posted a description of the piece in an earlier
email (pendant/necklace magically hurtling toward man's head).

Oh, yeah. That might help, huh? The picture shows one of those kitschy
bird-claw-holding-crystal-sphere necklaces speeding (in an aura of magical
energy) straight toward a man's head. It's coming in at an angle from up
above. The man has his hair pulled back tight behind his head. He has one
very evident datajack in his upper forehead, with some other sort of
smaller knob or node also in his head. He is peering over his shades,
apparently oblivious to his immediate fate.

Any ideas?

Okay, yes! I think this is it. It's on of those "crystal sphere in a bird
claw" talisman/pendants, yes? I must have gotten the calibers confused.
Any idea what a 1st ed Grimoire is going for nowadays?

Thanks Gurth!

I picked up a copy just this weekend for $10.

Yes, it looks like this is the picture you were talking about.

Sorry, I have no clue. I bought mine two years ago for a few pounds (I was
in the UK at the time) but I can't even remember how many exactly. I do
know somebody tried to charge me full price for it a year before, which I
felt was ridiculous...

There is no pic matching that description in Maximum Black (Sorry, I was
hoping it would be there since Maximum Black would be easier to find than
a 1st Ed Grimoire.). I would reccomend picking up Maximum Black anyway
(~$25 US). It has some great pics. I think Bradstreet is the best SR
artist. Partially because he is an awesome artist, but mostly because he
portrays SR imagery, realisticly without embelishment. There are some
other good SR artists, but I think no-one comes closer catching the SR
feeling than Bradstreet. I think Bradstreet's the only artist where I've
looked at his work and said "I want to make THAT my SR character."
Interestingly, I showed Maximum Black to a friend of mine and after a few
pages she handed it back and said "uhh ... I feel /dirty/." (The mark of
a good art book ;)*

*Just so no one gets the wrong idea, there is no nudity or anything. The
mood of the book is grim and harsh (A lot of the book is either goth or
cyberpunk). The "mark" I was referring to was the conveyance of the
emotional content. :)
