Let's see now, I'd been on the main mail list from early 1992 (I think) and was
still fairly new to the game shadowrun more content to disucss rules and new
ideas with the game. Of course back then every one played SR1 and there were
so many problems with it.
Then came the shadowbabble, a couple of people started posting a story line
to do with the House Of Cards, based off some gangs operating in Seattle. Then
came the comlpaints, "This isn`t rules stuff ! Burn them at the stake !" well
ok, maybe it wasn't quite as bad as that. So a vote was called for, at the
time I seem to remember I couldn't really care which way the vote went or
even if I voted.
Then as more and more interest was generated in the list I thought, ok let's
see what all the fuss is about and signed up. Hmm.. interesting was the first
thought though I didn't post anything for quite a while, just being one of the
masses that we now have who are quite content to sit back and watch. Then
someone, Andrew Danforth I seem to remember (anyone remember him) posted a
comment from his character 'Tailhook' slagging off phys ads ... Aha I thought
time to make an entrance, a challenge was issued and Powerhouse came to the
list. We did actually fight the battle in real time as well, I was running
a MUD at the time so I invited Andrew to log on.
After that good old PH as we've come to know him made the odd comment though
declined to get too involved in other story lines for quite some while. He
really got developed during the Monica wars, though he didn't really have
anything to do with them. About that time I brought IBA on and slowly started
introducing the other members of my team, some of whom are dead now, others are
still alive and kicking (Punisher, Speed), and much much later new characters
arrived (Chipper [note I had the original Chipper before FASA took him and put
him in the TT source book] and Spice).
So a shadow run team was born. I've got to admit it's been fun, developing
the story lines is something I really enjoy and I must say I think my writing
and general creative talents have improved significantly over the time I've
been on this list, and to think I nearly didn't sign on.
Good luck to everyone in the year ahead in both your work and play.
