Speaking of 2 handed combat, do the rules assume that you use
swords 2 handed? if yes, what are the mods for using a sword in each? I
know there will be a significant decrease in the strength of the blows.
Or if no, what would the powel level increases be when using both hands?

The way I read it, the damage level of a katana is for 2-handed use,
while the damage for sword is for one handed use. Does not make much
sense otherwise. In the middle ages, katana might very well have been
better swords, but in the modern world, since neither katanas nor sword
are made "the old way", they should not be so different. So, if someone
uses the katana on-handed, give them the damage as per a sword. If
someone uses a sword 2-handedly(that is, if he can get a sword with a
long enough grip), he gets katana damage. I also rule that one-handed
katana uses sword specialization, and 2-handed sword uses katana
specialization(so comfusing that I renames the specialization 1-handed
and 2-handed sword use! so that a monosword uses 1-handed, makes more
sense anyway!).

Using a single weapon like a long-sword (damn those **&* terms),
would be say +1 Power, I personally allow hand and a half swords
which do the same damage as a regular sword, but get +2 REAch
if wielded 2-handed, and 2-H swords with zip concealability and
+2 Reach, Str+3 S damage. ish...

I never figured the Str+3 for katana's as =1 power for 2handed
before, still, it tallie with the above. I just thought every
games designer was in love with superiror japanese swordsmiths..

I would say no for most swords and melee weapons, except the katana
which actually is much better to use two-handed. No mather what
people say about superiour Japanse weapon smiths, you could never
beat a monosword, so the damage from a katana used 1-Handed should be
Strenght+2M). Also katana's are much lighter than their equivalent
European counterparts and thus compensates for lack of mass by
superiour cutting edge.
The other swords listed in SR are one- handed (just look at the Ares
Monosword in SSC; it has a guard which can never be used two-handed;
then compare the damage with the other swords).
I personally rule that any melee weapon with a reach of 2 (except the
monowhip) is a 2-handed one.

If you could use a 1H-weapon with two hands, I would say multiply the
user's strenght by 1.5 to calculate the 2H-power level.

hopes this helps,

Oups, forgot that SR is an exponential system again. I took this one
from RuneQuest, sorry about that. The +1 STR for 2-Handed use is much
better.
