Now that I've got the scoop on the spear I need to come up with a good
angle on Longinus himself

o.k. that ought to do it;

They way I see it (in my anti-vampire campaign) Longinus was born and
"lived" in a very high mana time. The very day after he pierced the side
of Christ he was attacked by an ancient vampire. Becuase the mana level
was high enough he contracted HMHVV. But the way HE sees it, he was
struck down by an agent of God and cursed with immortality. He sees his
existance as a blood sucker as punishment from God. He has tried to
"redeem" himself by killing "bad" people. But, this apparently isn't
enough. Now in the 6th world, he realizes that his true calling is to
deystroy the curse of HMHVV. He worked with the Vampire Conspiracy for
a while until he discovered their true motives. Now he wants the
spear back because he believes that it is the talisman needed to deystroy
the anicent vampire. Coincindentally, this vampire is the leader of the
Vampire Conspiracy.

Might be interesting if you made that ancient vampire Cain, the son of
Adam.
He was supposedly "cursed by God" with vampirism anyway, and is the world's
first vampire.
Following the logic that destroying the sire destroys the children as well,
maybe by offing Cain, Longinus will destroy ALL vampires.

Also, it gives the ancient vampire a reason to be at the crucifixion ...
Cain would certainly have been there to see Christ, most likely, Cain is
repentant for his sins, and when L stabbed Christ with the spear, he was
probably angered.
This led to the attack on L.

That's my take on it.
