Ok call me lazy but is there such a thing as a sustained spell defense
foci that gives you it's force in dice that are automatically allocated
to spell defense or was I just dreaming that up from somewhere? Also for
the spell defense I know it's there to protect the other people but do
they roll for it or do you?

You are not lazy. The Spell Defense Focus is defined in the Magic in the Shadows book.

Ok....I'll see if I can hunt that down....anyone got clarification on
who actually rolls the spell defense dice? Also if it is the mage that
rolls it then would he know when they're being attacked by magic (as far
as the other people being attacked I mean) or would he just roll the
dice and be oblivious to it all until he was the target?

Don't quote me, but doesn't the description say that the Spell Defence dice
add to the target's resistance roll? This implies that the target gets to
roll the dice, not the magician prividing the dice. The rules also state
that at the moment a protected target is attacked with magic, the magician
who allocated Spell Defence dice may choose to use some, none, or all of the
allocated dice for the benefit of the target. This implies that the magician
who allocated the dice is fully aware of the spell affecting the target.

Never heard of it..

Also for

If you protect someone else with spell defense, it's still you who rolls. (f.e., a better
mage will probably also give a better Defense)
