I just had an interesting thought.

I was thinking about the advantages Mages have over Sammies and one of =
them is that the Sammie is never going to be able to walk through a Metal =
detector because of all that Cyberware. Well what happens if the Mage has =
a spell lock bound to him that contains ferrous metals.

The mundanes shouldn't be able to "see" it but will the metal detector =
notice it. Or will the detector notice but the mundane operators just =
ignore it. This could present a problem for those mages who find it =
necessary to go everywhere they go with active spell locks (ie Inc.Ref =
+3d) they now have the same problem with going into places like airports =
and many corp installations just like the Sammies (can you say body cavity =
search to find the "invisible" piece of metal).

The easy solution to this is to make your focus your key ring, or jewlerly
(ring necklace) that you _turn off_ before you go through the detector, and
then put back on and _turn on_ before you board the plane.

This raises another intresting point. If the metal detectors don't notice
it, can you make a preadator (I or II), Warhawk, etc. your focus?

heh, heh, heh.

Like my players will ever think of that.

Well, I don't think the status of the Spell Lock being either activated
or unactivated should make any difference as to whether a metal detector
can sense its presense. I would rule that it's NOT detectable in any
way by a mundane or any equipment (except for special magical equipment,
maybe).

Uh, I would definately say NO NO NO. :)

If its active (out of phase) then the metal detector shouldn't pick it up.

That's open to debate... Going by the "see-me-not" explanation, IMHO the
metal detector will notice the item, but any mundanes present would
probably ignore its readout and let the mage pass.

But it's not just "see-me-not", it's also "touch-me-not".....
