In such a case I wouldn't be afraid to let the mage cast a Powerball at the
spell lock in question, but I have the distinct impression that many GMs on
this list do it the other way around -- a PC walks around with a spell lock,
with the automatic result that there is an astral magician who kills the
spell lock, even if it makes no sense for an astrally-projecting magician to
be there in the first place -- sort of like:
"We go into the dungeon"
[some time passes]
"You come across a door, about a meter wide and 2 high."
"We open it."
"Behind it is a large chamber, with no doors at all except the one you just
opened. In the middle of the chamber is a HUGE red dragon."
Sounds familiar? :)

He thought they were, based on his memories of previous experiences with
insect spirits. Not that I can remember any insect spirits of mine
shattering spell locks from the astral, but I did manage to get the player
in question to fear them nonetheless :) Even before Bug City, BTW, so that
meant I just _had_ to get them into Chicago before the wall went up :)
Anyway, all this meant that that +3D6 Initiative spell finally lock got
switched off :)
