Do you mean for a Force 60 spell? The damage code determines to cost of the
spell's formula.

I don't mean this in a negative way at all, but that's a little off. The
force in days is the base time, not the maximum time. If you get no
successes on the learning test, then "the learning attempt fails. A failed
attempt wastes a number of days equal to the desired Force." Then the
character can try again, (quite) possibly failing again. In the end, the
character will either give up or succeed (after an unlimited period of
trying).

I honestly think the new SR3 rules for learning spells makes it almost
impossible to learn anything over Force 7, (insert expletive here). With
some spells, Force 6 or less just isn't enough to get the job done. Don't
get me wrong, it used to be too easy, but this is just as bad in the
opposite extreme. My games tend to be high powered (that's the way we like
'em), so having spellcasters hamstrung with weaker spells is not a good
thing.

Later on,
Steve.
