Actually, SR2 says that Init modifiers are substracted from Reaction
_first_, before you roll Initiative. So if your Reaction drops to 0 or
less, you can't move at all. Not that I use the rule that way, I feel it
slows down (N)PCs a bit too much (the shaman I talked about earlier, with
the Reaction +3D6 spell lock, has a base Reaction 2: a Dwarf with
Quickness 2 and Intelligence 2).

I don't believe he said the NPC was on the astral. He could be on the
physical plane, astrally perceiving. That would give him Stun damage.
Still difficult to resist, I agree, but it won't kill him.

I had a few words with my GM on this subject and he insisted it was only
a Fireball spell, no Hellblast. So drain was something like (F:2)+3D
ergo 6D. He had forgotten that Drain is physical damage when casting from
astralspace and this one cost him only a big beer (Reissdorf-Koelsch, was
sonst).
