Old SR had Turn To Goo. There was no canon I know of of how gooey it turns
things, but I always pictured it viscous like the platicrete 7 after it had
been sprayed with the catalyst - like chewed gum and slowly reverts to its
original shape like silly putty does if it is allowed to. Of course, the
drain for it was like S4 so you're talking an easy +2D. Of course dropping
the spell while something is still in a gooey wall makes for a nice hiding
spot or simple trap.

Or you could just have someone with improved invisibility and a really high
stealth skill. While they don't actually go through walls, they could go out
of their way to make it appear so. Kind of like the old D&D Shadow Door
spell - it creates a black door and when the caster goes through it he
turns invisible or ethereal etc. and the door disappears, so it looks like
he teleported away, but is actually lurking around listening to what the
PC's have to say....

Spirits of course can go Astral. A ghost or Awakened person could
conceiveable do this with a power, spell, or the assistance of a spirit. To
balance it some I would probably use an imp that wanted karma every time
someone wanted a trip.

I always saw it as turning things into a sticky puddle on the floor, not
unlike the glycerine you see in horror movies. I also didn't think things
took their original form again, goo was goo. Which was why it didn't make it
to the second edition, it was too powerful, and too easily used on human
targets.

I recall it being a sustained spell. When you stop sustaining it, they
recongeal and take their normal form... God forbid you split them up into
two buckets before dropping the spell though... Ick. :)

According to Simon & Fiona, on Sat, 22 Feb 2003 the word on the street was...

It was a sustained spell, so that suggest the item turned to goo goes back
to its original form when the spell is released.

my question was always whether the cyberware would not turn to goo with them
