Well, you know guys, I would love to read the books if I ONLY KNEW
WHAT THE HELL YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT!!! Granted, my school's internet node
was down for about a day and I imagine I've missed some messages, but when
this thread first started there was no mention of the name of the books
then either. So my questions to you are: What *are* the names of the
books? What is the title of the series? Who wrote them? What is the time
in which the stories took place? What are the stories about? Can a quick
overview be given? This is worse than when that thread about the Lensmen
started on GMAST-L. I still don't even know what a Lensman is either!

What is a Spetsdods? I know what a Spetznatz is, but not a
Spetsdod. No discription was given when somebody posted stats about them a
couple odd days back. They looked kinda like finger mounted weapons, but I
couldn't tell for sure.

I'll talk to you later also. :)

Does it ever get cold in the Matrix with all of those Data Storms?
If the Data is Life, does that ever mean it rains cats and dogs in the
Matrix? :)

The singular is spetsdod--actually spetsdoed (I do not think umlauts show up on
the mail server) Which probably comes from German spitz- (pointed) toeten
(kill). They are weapons that are attached to the back of the hand that fire
darts with compressed air as propellant. The trigger assembly extends over the
index finger so that when one flexes the finger, the end makes contact with the
trigger and fires the weapon. Use of such weapons emphasizes extreme accuracy
and skill. As to more information on the series, I will let my colleges to
relay that.

Apropos Spetsdod.

I haven't read the books, so I cannot justify my interpretation in any
substantial manner, BUT:

_
Spetsdod (try to view the underscore above as two dots, i.e. an umlaut)

is a correctly spelled Swedish word meaning "pointed death".

So, this is not a perversion of "Spitztot", unless (and that is of cause
possible) you regard Swedish as a perversion of German :-)
