One of the people in my group wants to play a free Spirit,
are there rules for this in one of the books? or suggestions online for
this?
Thanks

This has cropped up several times over the years both here and on the
Dumpshock forums. Try doing a search of the archives.

The only rules published for it are for NPC free spirits, not PCs. I think
it would be a bit difficult to do this right, though; the whole character
generation rules are geared toward playing metahumans, so you'd have to
give serious thought about such things as how to cater for the character's
attributes (since they're based off Force) and how the player buys the
spirit's powers.

Not to mention the fact that it's explicitly stated that they don't receive
Karma for actions. They'd have to be donated Karma from the rest of the group.

I have written some years ago rules for spirit PCs, they are still based on
SR2, if you want to take a look, i can email them to you offlist.

I have seen things you lusers would not believe.
I've seen Sun monitors on fire off the side of the multimedia lab.
I've seen NTU lights glitter in the dark near the Mail Gate.
All these things will be lost in time, like the root partition last week.
Time to die.

If you were using BeCKs, you could simply use the rules for constructing
ally spirits. Not sure how you'd add free spirit powers (or even if
you'd want to - those powers are pretty darn heavy duty).
