Hello thought I would ask the rest of you a few questions on spirts since im still a
little fuzzy on what they can do. Like for example when you conj a wind spirt and lets say
you are in Azlan and the smog is bad insted of geting a filter can you ask the spirt for
certain faves like to some how keep its self around you and only filter thru the good air
and remove the smog? Just simple things like that besides what they normaly can do ( for
any spirt) like come into our world guard hide people ect..? Another question is.. I dont
know where I herd this or maybe im loseing my mind but can let say your falling outta a
window from the 5th story can windspirts and such some how catch you or lighten your fall?
Or does all that depend on the gm? That questions been on my mind from Saturday when I was
playing my Shaman thanks.... Wait one more can you also only banish spirts? and does it
have to be only on the phiscal plain or can it be in astral? Thank ye for all your time

By the letter of the rules? Not really, unless they've added something
beyond the listings in SR3. I don't have Critters on-hand to check.

As a GM, I would allow any spirt of the appropriate type and with the Guard
power to protect you from environmental effects.

[To Others: Is Fire really the only elemental with the Guard power, or is
that a mistake?]

I don't see why not, as long as you've already got the spirt on call. This
could be a problem for a Shaman, though. In order to fall out of a window,
he needs to be in a building - that's hearth domain. If he was in the
Hearth domain, then he's lost control of any non-Hearth spirits.

Any magician capable of conjuring can banish any spirit. You can only
attempt to control spirts you are capable of summoning yourself.

If the building is high enough and he fell out near the top, he can summon that sky spirit
on the way down... :)

One of my GM's allowed me to pull this stunt in our
last game. We were running around on a mountainside in
Puyallup where there were a lot of fumes, so my gal
summoned up a wind spirit and asked it to clean up the
air around them as they went along. It helped a lot,
but it still wasn't completely clean. Maybe if I'd
used a force 8 spirit instead of a force 4...:)

According to GuayII@***.com, on Mon, 24 Feb 2003 the word on the street was...

For those wanting to do this, you'll need two Complex Actions. You can use
the rules on page 46 of the SR Companion to figure out whether you'll have
enough of those available :)
