You will of course be missed, if you do decide to leave that is.

You joke, but that may not be a bad idea. There is certainly a
compelling arguement to have a seperate list for each edition of
Shadowrun, and maybe a primary list for the whole of Shadowrun and
questions/comments/suggestions that aren't edition specific:
ShadowRN1, ShadowRN2, ShadowRN3, ShadowRN4, and ShadowRN. ...course,
a message board might be better at this point, and Dumpshock is
already up and running... :/

I missed the part where a message board is ever better?

(This is where _I_ get vitriolic :) )

Ah, but a message board is a totally different dynamic. I don't really like
them. Email is a far better tool for this sort of thing, IMO.

As for creating separate lists, I don't know how well that would work.

Agreed.

I haven't gm'd/played Shadowrun in close to three years (not counting
playtesting). But I'm still a member of this list because for me it
isn't just about Shadowrun. I get tons of ideas that I can use in any
game I run/play. That says a lot about the caliber of the members of
this list.

I've also been a member of ShadowRN for close to 10 years and well, it's home :)

Email requires a little more net smarts and a little more effort to read
and post to. It's not much, but it's enough to weed out at least a small
portion of the twinks that frequent boards.
And yeah, no matter what, RN is home. Hell, even if I stopped playing SR
altogether, there are still friends and memories.

I think it wouldn't. If you ask me, traffic would drop to even more
dramatically low levels than we're used to, on all of them but
especially the SR1 and SR2 lists. In the end, it'd be a lot worse than
having a single list where, for the first time in years, we're seeing
50+ posts a day again ...

I agree. Plus, I think you'd be losing out a bit by being on one list and
not on another, since a good deal of conversation around here isn;t rules or
even edition specific. I've picked up more than a few ideas from the list
over the years for games, gotten advice, and gotten hosed by advice given my
old GM.

And damn Gurth, remember when less than 100 posts was a slow day? :)

Exactly. Sort of related: I used to be on a Twilight: 2000 list that
suffered from spammers, so somebody set up a new list and most of the
members moved to that. However, many (but not me) remained on both
lists, and some occasionally post replies to both -- so I sometimes get
to see replies to posts I never saw, leading me to think I missed something.

It would be somewhat similar if we'd have separate SR lists, I think: if
you're not on all of them, you're going to miss out on some of the
conversation that will be interesting to you after all.

Yes ... :(

Alternative:
Add tags in the subject line, no tag for topics of interest to all
(to a greater or lesser degree) such as real-world cyber, metaplot...etc
An SR4 tag for topics specifically related to the SR4 ruleset, SR3
for... you get the idea.
Anyone receiving digest of course is out of luck but individual mails
could be filtered (manually if need be) to remove those which are of
no interest to you.
