You have to be logged into AOL to get to them. If you're in the 'states,
that's easy enough to do, as they pass out "10 free hour" disks at a
phenominal rate.

I don't know yet. That's why I'm trying to get them conveerted.

Sounds great!
I know of a webpage which has a bunch of adventure ideas people sent in. In
fact, I promised him I'd send him one of mine. I also another one of mine is
in NAGE. I'll try and find the URL for the webpage.

I've even got one of those somewhere... If it wasn't for the phenomenal
phone bill I'd have tried it out, too.

On a somewhat related note, I've been thinking of compiling a calender of
the years 2050 through 2060 or so, and putting in it the dates at which
all the adventures start, plus other significant dates for all those years
(the first and/or last dates of the shadowcomments in each sourcebook, for
example).

Anyone have a program that can simply and quickly generate a text file
with a calender of each of those years?

Eh. Three main places to look:
1. The Shadowrun Archive: into the modules (english) section
2. NERPS: Foundations (also on the archive)
3. On The Nexus (http://www.wolfenet.com/~cukoo/sr.htm)

If you can get to a U*ix system, just type 'cal 2060 > 2060.txt'
Usually this works...

Hey, that works great. I had no idea that the ">" command existed. Is there
anything else like that for Unix that isn't listed in the "man"s? Since
this is way off topic please respond privately.

Yes, | will send the command to another command. I use it alot to look at
logins on my server. (We had a hacker a couple of months ago.) The commands
line following | is either more or less, depending on which is compiled on
your system. The more/less command scrolls the information onto your screen
and waits until you hit a key before scrolling the next bit. | is called
pipe. One of my personal favorite commands is banner <phrase> | write
<address>. Friends on the server get big long banner messages accros the
screen. Really pisses them off. :)

Good news!
I just got a friend of mine with one of them fruity computers *grin* to
translate the adventures that were in ClarissWorks. Anyone without AOL
access want me to post copies on an ftp?

You could probably send it to Paolo for placement in the archive. Failing
that, then yes, if you could put it on an ftp site someplace that'd be
great. Further, since I (and quite a few others) do not have AOL access, I
was wondering if it would be possible for someone who does to download all
the useful SR material that is on AOL? No need to convert anything, just
download it and place it somewhere where it is a little more accessable.
That'd be really good if it were possible.

Thanks.

Hmm, as part of my latest project, I'm starting a Shadowrun FileServer on
Undernet using my bot, SprawlBot. I'm looking for stuff that has been both
been published online previously, and any new stuff. Right now I don't have
much, since I kinda deleted a ton of stuff awhile back. I'm going to use
the schools net conenction to DL more stuff tommorrow. Lucky bastards have a
28.8 with a damn cool net connection. I would use that provider, but at the
rate I am online, i would be paying 5,000 plus a year connection fee's.
Anyways, catch me on IRC or email if you wish to donate anything, and yes, i
would be very willing to store AOL stuff and distribute it for you guys.

I copied some other goodies from AOL to light.adelphi.edu just now.

Icarus2 and package 2 were converted from ClarissWorks but still have funny
chars in them. For that matter, they came out as two files for some reason.

sdav3.wp is the original sdav3 that somehow got lopped off.

sdav5.txt is sppsed to be in wp6 format but apparently is either corrupted
or in something else.

srscenar.txt is another adventure I found. It's kinda lame tho, as all the
characters die at the end.

Ok a couple things.

1. Both the icarus and project files are OK, They do have some funny binary
characters disperssed throughout them but you can read them.

2. sdav3.wp is identical to sdav3.txt. The original file was loped not my
conversions.

3. sdav5.txt still gets an unknown file type response. So it is definately
corrupted, or not a WP doc. (not write, notebook, or word 6 readable either.)

4. srscenar seems to be OK. (Aren't you all so lucky.) :)

5. Ubiquitous did you read the post I sent? This server is going down in
less then 16 hours. (It being around 2am Friday morning where I am.) *THWAP*
:) If you all want these get them quick! Or you'll have to wait until
september. (Unless Ubiquitous posts them elsewhere. {Hint Hint})

Everyone can now access them also. The server makes them only accessable by
root until the permissions are changed. Keeps the server from becoming
Berkley. :) So fire up the FTP programs and go sic em.

Weel, I just check ed the site is still up. You'll have till tomorrow
morning (I think) cause the sysadmin is busy with his ex, don't ask. Until
then I still have copies too so if someone does give a site then either of
us can post them.
