Hey all,

Just thought that I'd pose a question (or three).

Does anyone know if the SR:Companion
points based character generation system
will be included in the SR3 core rules or is
it still going to remain an non core option.

I note from Bull's post-Origins post that
there is talk about the priority system
being tweaked in SR3 so obviously this
is included as standard.

I personally like the points system and use
it in all my current games. Our group is
however rather excited about SR3,
especially the mods that Bull has mentioned
that will be included. I was just hoping that
edges and flaws are included in the SR3 core.

Any word/goss/rants?

Cheers,

Well, I don't know, but I sure hope so. The point system works so
much better. It allows for more flexibility, and versatility.
I would tend to think it will not be included, though. FASA probably
wants to obselete as few books as possible. From what I've heard,
with the exception of the new skill web, The Companion sounds like it
is still a viable add-on, with few if any modifications.

Well, just going from what Mike said at Origins, a few modifications will
be necessary, and no, the point system is not going to be in the core book
(I agree, I like it better, but... )

With the rearrngement of races on the priority table, having every race
cost the same will probably need tweaked.

Since you get more Active SKill Points now, the skill selection may need to
change slightly.

Knowledge Skills won;t affect things since it will be determined by your
Intelligence.

The Adepts/Aspect Magicians were split up on the Priority system, so they
may change on the point system.

Mike mentioned the possibility of an "Update" section in the back of SR3
that may include these changes to the books that are remaining in print
(Like the companion). Either that or they will end up Errated and put up
on the Web Page (Fingers crossed).

As Erik Said (Hey, you've been sililier and even more Off Topic than me
lately :)) in his quaint little way, let's wait until the book comes out
until we discuss it any further... I've done my best to answer the
questions, but... I can only repeat what Mike told us, which as uyou've
seen leaves a few unanswered questions... Plus, a few people have seen fit
to almost blame me personally for changes (Not publiclly, lucky for them).
<sigh> A case of "shoot the Messanger" I guess... Either that or they
assume playtesters actually have a say in what goes in a book :]

Take it easy kids :]

What, are you jealous? ;-)

Dunno, seemed appropriate at the time...

Exactly. Even the playtesters don't know what the final version of SR3 is
and there could have been significant changes. We are all still almost
totally in the dark here. The sun's going to be up in a few weeks and
until then, stop trying to start brush fires in your attempts to see in the
dark.
