Why not make 0 nuyen worth -6 points?

I would prefer to see a formula, perhaps a power function? The thing is
to we want the increase to continue to increase (ie, exponential growth)
or just have linear growth after 30 points?

I you must have progression past this point I'd say linear, and still
have a cap on that.

Ancient cultures believed that names held great power, personal names
more so and they were guarded very closely. To protect themselves, they
answered to another name, because if another discovered their real name,
it could be used against them.

I personally hate making no gain worth negative points. If the scale
were just shifted and the player given a few extra points to
compensate, you could do stuff like allowing them to buy resources
as many times as they wanted...

When I built my point system for SR3 that's exactly what I did - you
can see the results at http://ojaste.dhs.org/~ojastej/SR/Points.html

If you're just interested in the formulae:
<quote>
The Resources table is based on two formulae, and the number of points spent
(p).
Let x = p/6 + 2.
For p <= 24 points, use: R = 10^x * (7 - x)^2
For p >= 24 points, use: R = 10^6 * sqrt (2(x - 6))
</quote>
Caveat - my point system was based on 6 points per level, so it may
not mesh too well even though the curve is accurate (based on the SR3
priority system, obviously)...

I'll see if I can tinker with the new curve to make things match up
a little better.

What's the difference between 0 Nuyen being worth -5 points and making it
worth 0 points and making all the other ressouces worth +5 points but
giving everyone an extra 5 points to compensate? In the end, the net
result is identical ... just the principle, I guess :)
