I just found this, and almost fell over laughing. I don't think my fave
character is ever going to let the other "long life character" of the party
live this one down. Elves are now, on average, 2 kilograms heavier than
humans. So much for being "dainty, flighty, types"...now I get to call him
"tubby" :p

But, in truth, they did change it. The table on the page gives averages for
height, weight, and lifespan (I still might have to bump off the elf...he
doesn't deserve to live that long ;). It is certainly better than anyone
weighing in at half a ton like a Troll in the old rules could pull off on the
extreme end.

What's to live down? Elves are still damn close to anorexic.

Why do you say this? They're also 20cm taller than humans, nearly 12%.
All things being equal, a human at 190cm would weigh around 98kg. I
mean, I stand around that same 190cm, and I weigh in the neighborhood of
105kg, and I'm not fat by any means (though I do need to lose the
computer gut one of these days). At my thinnest, I was around 70kg, and
I was skin and bone. The Air Force did do one thing right: They helped
me gain 30 pounds or so (the rest I did to myself).

As I've said elsewhere, even raising the weight average from 68kg to
72kg isn't a major improvement. Guess my article isn't going to be
completely outmoded after all.

Keith, it's likely that a troll would weigh pretty close to half a ton
when you factor in his Strength and Body bonuses, et al.

Actually, I'm so fragging surprised anyone has looked at the
possibility/probability that some degree of comparable strength-to-
mass/momentum hasn't been looked at.

A troll is bigger than a human, if we were to apply those neat BMI-whatever
numbers that someone else just came up with, then we'd notice that a Troll's
attributes were in many ways figured in as a direct part of the formula.

And as for likelihoods of weighing that much. I am not saying that they
couldn't, but not that so many of them -WILL- weigh that much.

I haven't done much w/ mass and momentum, but simple body weights and
stuff I have. I sent you a copy of the article once, but I don't know
that you ever got back to me with the proofer's marks....

An average troll (is that an oxymoron or what?), by my admittedly
simplistic math, would weigh in at a hefty 477kg, over 1,000 pounds.

This seems much more reasonable than what the books have, in light
of my observations about the WCW Wrestler - Giant.
Over 7', but less than 8'. Weighs 540lbs.
