I agree with you on most parts. But than MITS and M&M are both
specialised for some of the Players out there. The Companion would be
usefull to everyone that wants to play. But of course I would like to
see M&M put forward in the releasschedule, but I think that the
magicsystem needs it right now more badly (as it is the part that has
changed the most) than anything other. The GM's are a bit in a state of
"flying" in the air as they do not know what to expect in the future and
what is possible and what is not. And new toys would be great, realy,
although I fear abit the Canon Companion, I realy do not hope that they
try to go online with the credo "Bigger is better" (Heard that
FASA-guys?;o)). So I hope they use the Canon Companion not only to
implement more Guns and Tech (although, more power to nifty Tech I say,
give us more of those Gadgets like Shadowbeat!), but they give
Rulesoptions for Combat. If not there than hopefully they will bring up
an optional Gamesystem using hitlocations, that would help a lot in many
ways.

Warning long story now to come. I warned you and it does not realy makes
sense...
;o)

"Ladies and Gentleman, dear HMHVV infected, please take a look at what
our corespondant in Seattle has picked up! Do you see that building over
there? Good. This is the Headquater of a small corporation called FASA.
It specializes in creating and distributing Roleplaying Games around the
Globe. Their current Pruductline incorporates Games that take place in
the far future, hulking war machines roam the battlefields in this dark
future, awesome pilots do their duty to help their Corporations finding
new Investment areas and technology has dwindled nearly to a halt
leaving those ten to fifteen meters tall Giants relative helpless
compared to the technology available right now. And FASA has a
productline that deals with our reality as we know it now. There one can
be a Streetsamurai trying to make living hunting those terrible Rougue
Samurais and Mages that happen to hurt the corporations once in while.
You have the newest technology available to help you establish peace in
the Sprawl. But of course can you play anything else you want, a Mage, a
shaman, a Rigger, a decker, any mixture of these.
But back to the news, see this old man standing there in front of the
building, shaking his stick?"
Camera zooms in, displaying old man with white beard and T-shirt,
reading "M&M RBN!"
Backshot at corespondent
"This man is something unike to Seattle he is know as "olde Doc'". What
is so special about this man? This man is something around 80. That is
sure nothing special, but this man keeps coming from to this place every
month on the 1st day and keeps rambling. And it all started way before
the crash, my resources told me that he started to come to this place in
the year 1999! Astounding isn't it? And what is the cause that he..."
Shot to the old man waving his walkingstick
"...keeps rambling? It is an old supplement for the Game, somethink
called "Man and the Machine" that he demands to be set on print. Well as
you know the big crash has deleted many informations and it seems that
this was one of those informations that was lost, what is "Man and the
Machine?" As most of the old producing Staff has died or is not
available anymore nobody will know, but the old man keeps on rambling
and doesn't believe. He usually ends with acusations and conspiracy
theories from the gouvernment and ends up occasionaly in jail, but that
does not stop him.
Thats it from Seattle, now back to the news, thank you for listening."
Camera shot at old man shouting
"Man and the Machine RIGHT BLOODY NOW! I know you guys got it there
somewere, I FRAGGIN KNOW! Common" couch, couch "Giv it to me, I want it!
I demand..."
;o)

Yes, but only over the Thumb, that gives the newbees something to chew
on. And that is what the 3rd edition is all about, a gamesystem for the
new ones.
