Oops. Helps if you type your message before hitting send...

Yes, I am a first time poster. Please be merciful. ;)

Anyone have know why the Quickness enhancements for cyberlimbs presented in
CT are not in SR3. It seems to me like such an enhancement would be a
fairly standard. I'd also be interested in hearing what people think the
stats (cost, essence, conceal, etc.) of such enhancements under SR3.

Thanks,

Rich

Welcome to ShadowRN! :)

If you haven't allready (and any other newbies) please read the ShadowRN
FAQ (the URL is in my .sig).

I would suspect it's going to be in the upcoming supplement tentitively
titled Man and Machine.

SR3 was written to be a core book with everything that FASA felt was
necessary for new players. I guess that didn't include quickness
enhancements for cyberlimbs. All the icing-on-the-cake stuff will be
in upcoming sourcebooks (Man and Machine (cyberware), Cannon Companion
(guns n ammo), and Magic in the Shadows)

Any date on when these books will be out. I heard the Magic in the Shadows
should be out around the first of the year. What about the others?

Understood. Still, I have some PCs and NPCs who have Cyberlimb Quickness
enhancements that I'm translating up from SR2 to SR3 and was hoping to get
some guesses as to what changes, if any, would probably be made to those
enhancements. I noticed that the cost of Strentgh enhancements went down
100,000 nuyen from CT to SR3 (unless there is an errata I don't know about).
I'd be interested in hearing from anyone willing to throw in their two
cents.

Thanks in advance,

Rich

My personal opinion (an I had some input into SR3's cyberlimbs) is
that almost any mechanical system that uses leverage (cyber limbs AND
flesh limbs fall in this category) trades off between quickness and
strength (assuming the control sytems are adequate for the quickness,
and the substructure can handle the exertion of strength).

The rules skinny? I would guess you could buy quickness
enhancements AS strength enhancements, and apply the bonus to
quickness. That could cut into your essence pretty fast if you wanted
to pump strength AND quickness, but it is "realistic", as far as SR
cyberlimb rules go.

The "body rating" enhancements should, IMO, be much cheaper, but
involve some heavy duty re-sizing of the user. Full body replacements
need a big overhaul, IMO, in light of anthroform drone rules...

No idea, sorry.

Same as in Cybertechnoloy, I'd say. In general, a good rule of
thumb is that if something doesn't change in a new book, the
stuff from the older book still applies. Unless the cost for Strength
enhancements has altered radically between CT and SR3 (I
haven't checked this), I'd say Quickness enhancements use the
costs from CT. If the cost for Strength enhancements _has_
changed, I suggest changing the Quickness boost costs by the
same percentage.

Early to mid next year, AFAIK.

Even tho the Shadowrun page is lacking in many areas, their release
schedule of upcoming products is usually up to date.
