In reading through the SR3 rules on spell foci, I did not see a reference to
casting a spell from the astral plane, through an active focus, into the
physical plane. That coupled with the bit on a "unbreakable barrier" between
the physical and astral planes [SR3p.182] leads me to assume that this is no
longer possible. Is that how others interpret this or am I missing something?

You are not missing anything. There is no more grounding through foci.

"And there was much rejoicing!"

(Seriously. I always HATED that rule; but after I'd allowed it once I
couldn't go back on myself. And it just wouldn't be fair to let NPC's use
it to maximum advantage, since the PC's would be dead twelve times
over...)

The reference wasn't there because there is no grounding (what
you're describing) in SR3 anymore. Something about a change in the mana
levels.... You're not missing anything.

Mana Levels? Maybe "I" missed something. Can you give any more info?

It's what I've been told. There's little more than this in the
ShadowFAQ and hopefully it'll be explained in MiTS.

Not to be a total dweeb, but what is the ShadowFAQ and where can I find
it?
