Ok, here is my rant against whiney ass complaining, number 2:

The book you refer to is a "Special Limited Edition". Special,
because it was only available at GenCon. Limited, because only 1000
were printed. How could it be any clearer?

Can't make it to GenCon? I'm sorry, but tough cookies. Every game
company (not just FASA) comes up with gimmicks and hooks to get
people to come to conventions and trade shows. Other industries do it
too. Incredibly cool things are sold and/or given away at shows such
as Comdex and E3. It's par for the course, so get over it.

FASA has 72 of the books left over which you can order on Monday, so
you and the "number of Shadowrun players in your area" can have a
shot at them. You can be quiet now.

I don't believe the demand is as high as you seem to indicate. Of the
25,000 or more at GenCon, only a little over 900 books were sold.
That's less than 4%. FASA didn't even sell out, for crying out loud!
Apparently things are not as bad as you indicate. I think this is
just a case of blowing the whole thing out of proportion, and then
whining about it.

Gang, I'm sorry if I seem to be so grumpy, but there seems to be an
increased amount of whining on the list lately, or I am just very
irritable. A good nights sleep should prove which is the case.

I think the complaint is (or at least it should be) that we all
expected the Hardbacks to be available in general, with a few rumors
about Special Editions, but even FASA said there was NO such thing.
(Different reps said it different ways, leading to a general "no
special edition" mush, which may not have been exactly what they were
trying to say.

Of course, it could just be that the public is spoiled after NERPS...

Well, don't be too hard on them. Ever tried to throw a suprise party
and invite more than 10 people? Damned hard to keep locked down. I
think many factors played into the "leaks", including sparse
knowledge of FASA's plans, to ad-libbing (however unsuccessful)
information to cover up knowledge.

Hopefully in the future, the tact will be to play "Mum's the word".
If they have to say anything, they should say "Something very special
is coming up. Stay tuned."

Just my two cents.

I'd rather have the full and complete truth, from one central source
that can be easily independently verified. (Such as, say, the FASA
Webpage, where a person could (theoretically) go to find details
about an upcoming release before it happened).

Gross! I've got sarcasm dripping down my chin!
