How much Karma do people hand out?

SR3 has some guidelines for individual Karma awards but nothing for the story
overall. The last adventure in First Run has these guidelines:

2 for completing the story.
1-3 depending on threat level.
1-3 for dealing with a specific story specific task (In this case the riddles/tasks
of the 'Old Man of the Woods').

Using that as a guideline for general 'scenerio design' in terms of Karma payout
gives anywhere from 4 to 8. Is that more or less than the norm for people here?
And is there any good published advice or even website advice on the topic?

Most of the time the games I play in hand out total karma awards (personal
and team) of around 10GK.

Here's what I typically give:

1 per significant gaming session
1 for surviving
1-2 for roleplaying
1 for solving puzzles, good plans, and clever scams
1 for motivating the plotline
1 for being in the right place with the right skill
1 for each goal accomplished
1-4 for a general threat rating. Note 2 is average, 3 is for a deadly
mission, and 4 is for baddies all over the place.
1 for gutsy (not stupid) combat

Which comes out to an average of 8-9 for a 2 session adventure, or one
long session. With the skills split into their SR2 concentrations, karma
is much more in demand in SR3.

After topping up with individual roleplaying bonuses, that's more or less
the karma norm that I award per job.

According to Arcady, at 15:58 on 18 Aug 99, the word on

I find it strange that the story award section from SRII was not included
in SR3; but that doesn't stop me from using it :) They're on page 199:

1 point for survival
1 point for every mission objective accomplished
0-3 points for the threat level (3 is _a_lot_ here, BTW)

It is for the adventures I run; I can't speak for others' games, though,
but I sometimes get the impression that I don't give out much Karma
compared to many other GMs.

Depends on how long the adventures needs (of course it does!
(-: ) . We usually get 7-9 Karma but we often need about 6
sessions (3.5 hours each) so 8 Karma in 2-3 month real time
gives you much time to decide what to learn next for your
character ;-)
