Not really a question but just another realization on how much Magic has
changed in SR3. I know a few of you are still reading SR3 and may not know
it, but FASA put together a little "what's changed from SR2" (follow the
link).
I was just looking for rules in SR3 about blocking spells in astral
space and Grounding, I now know why I can't find them :) Let's here a
WOO-HOOO! for the last sentence there....

Snipped from http://www.fasa.com/Preview/10070/SR2%20to%20SR3.html
----------------------
The Astral Plane

In SR3, only living and magical things have an actual vibrant aura on the
astral plane. Non-living, non-magical things have no aura to speak of,
although they are still visible and opaque in astral space.
Spells no longer have an astral form, although they do have an aura. This
means they can no longer be intercepted in astral combat. Physical spells
have no effect on the astral plane. Grounding is no longer possible.

I'd noticed that too. Now in several other places, it was mentioned
that [such and such] is now an advanced rule and will be covered in
the upcoming [magic/cyber/guns] sourcebook. For grounding, however,
this seems to be a flat out statement not to expect it in MitS.

(Side note: I just got a batch of week old posts again today. I
suppose this is going to be a weekly thing now. Anyone else get stale
mail, or was it just me?)

So glass *IS* opaque in astral space. Glad that has been cleared up :).

Yowch. A radical departure from the previously defined physics of magic.
That makes any kind of 'permanently' sustained spell a lot more powerful
(assuming spell locks, quickenings, or anchorings still exist).

I'd have to check to see if you can attack a spell (meaning a spell
sustained on someone). However, you can always attack the sustaining
focus (the replacement for the spell lock.).

Anyone can dispell a spell now, not just initiates.

But any spell-slinger can now do Dispelling, including any punk wiz kid met on
the street who has LOS of you.

Chris Maxfield We are restless because of incessant

Canberra, Australia change were stopped.
