/ Actually MC23 Loki's group play tested more than the Magic rules...

Well, we all got the complete Magic chapter. Then there was the email
mess for the Character Creation rules (sans Skills and Equipment), and
the test of the initiative and dice pool use rules (which Mike emailed
as an attachement from a Mac and none of us PC users could read the
thing, thank god someone converted it :)

Just to finish up the playtest list, Myself, Loki, Caric, and Dvixen (Along
with Randall Bills from FASA) were all asked at GC97 to work on ideas for
various new initiative systems...

I also was asked for ideas about the VR2 stuff and what needed erratta'd or
distlled for SR3. Sadly, it ended up a bit more complicated than my ideas,
but such is life :]

Outside of that, I don;t know if anything else got playtested outside of
the writers and FASA...

Time limitations really prevented much more playtesting...

Hmm. Much as I have a distressing tendency to be a complete fangirl when
it comes to FASA, I think this is a mistake. The SR3 launch is one of
the two biggest events in the history of Shadowrun (the SR2 launch being
the other ;) and I think rushing it just to release it in time for a con
is a mistake.

Hmmmm....
I think you're forgetting something....
There were 3 "Biggest events in the history of shadowrun".
ANd you missed the Biggest one of them all.
The release of Shadowrun 1st Edition, for without it, we wouldn't be here
now.

Ah, well, kudo's. I sent my own system to Mike, but parts of it were
(are) convoluted. One idea that was in playtest (reducing intitative between
action by 10+injuries) was all that made it to playtest, and that got dropped
for SR3.

Given circumstances, I doubt a longer development would have been fiscally
sound. As it is, the release of several products was pushed back in order to
focus on SR3.

Damn, I still haven't finished my Speed vs. Skill thread to continue
reading. I hate that is was dropped. I'm keeping it. B>P#
It's just such a negligible penalty otherwise.

It may have been rushed, but you sure couldn't tell it. It looks
great, and is much improved. I haven't read it all yet, but so far I
am very impressed.

Keep the faith, LadyJ. When you see it, you'll understand. :)

More on SR3 and FASA later.
