in attributes, I didn't like it. I mean...it's called "racial max".
I started thinking about it and realized...if I want to use it...that all
you have to do is think of it that 1.5 x past is now the new racial max.
This makes a lot of sense in a way. In SR2, it was easier to raise
attributes and everyone started walking around eventually with the same
attribute stats. Using SR3 rules and allowing 1.5 x past fixes the curve,
now...when they talk about the strongest human man alive (unaugmented) at
9...that guy is going to be extremely rare and not every runner will have
max attributes.
OK, that's good and all...but I think they forgot about something. One
person could always go 1.5 x past...the (Physical) Adept.
What about him now. First of all, I always thought, a character can
actually be stronger than that (unaugmented) human weight lifter by means
of either cyber or magic. Cyber, that's easy...but now...the magic is
screwed up.
It still says Adepts can go only up to 1.5 racial max...so, I'd assume (for
human strength) that that's 9...but now anyone (although rare) can have a
STR 9 too. Since with cyber you can go way past that, I wonder why you can
not with magic. Also, an Adept has to spend 40 points of karma to get 1.5
points to increase his STR from 6 to 7. Where anyone else (including him)
can raise it without magic at a cost of 21. To me, an Adept should A) be
able to raise his strength further and B) cost less to do so.
What are your thoughts on this? One simple way to fix this would say
Adepts ability is for the "new racial max" which would be 1.5 x past
anyway. They could spend 1 point for each step up to 9 and 1.5 points for
each step up to 12...That might fix this, but I'm not sure I like it.
