I do agree with everyone that speed should play a part in combat, but not
necessarily as much as several others in this topic/thread do. In the games
here, we had for a while implemented a House Rule where the bonuses to
Reaction from Wired Reflexes, MBW (and now, the new Physical Adept Improved
Reflexes) also went into the Combat Pool of the user. With SR2's rules
concerning the Combat Pool and Defending one's self, this made *some* sense to
us.

I witnessed a house ruling on a parallel style at the Con where an extra die
beyond the first/natural die also improved upon the combat pool (and then the
guy went on about how his character had managed to aquire 8 extra dice for his
initiative beyond the first.....<sigh>)

You know, I've recently started to wonder why the reaction enhancement
form the VCR adds to control pool, while (non rigged) reaction bonuses have no
effect on combat pool. The two pools do have overlapping uses- consider the
actions (and pools) of a rigged anthroform drone VS a samurai. The drone
(while likely lower in body) would have a bigger pool for essentially the same
actions (and use gunnery for all ranged weapons, to boot!)
I'd say pool boosting cyber of some sort is going to be a topic for MAM,
in any case. Basing it off a modified form of speedware would make some
sense, IMO.
