I've scrolled back through the posts that I have archived in my mail
program and didn't see a thread on this, so I thought I'd ask (Who knows,
maybe I missed it)...

Can you magically heal drain in SR4?

SR3 pretty specifically states it (page 162 last paragraph under "Drain")
and is pretty easy to find.

SR4..either you can, or the rule saying you can't is hard to find.

So, can you or can't you, and if you can't, show me the rule.

You explicitly can't heal stun damage, whatever the source, but I
can't find a mention of anything that would stop you from healing
physical drain.

While there are no rules that expressly deny the use of magic to heal
physical drain. the net effect becomes unbalancing if abused. likewise as
overcasting currently stands a character currently has better ability to
manage dice penalties by overcasting at moderatly high levels. One real
problem is a Troll with magic three casting force 5 spells. their body is
high enough to deny most of the effect.

A prospective solution is to have all overcasts cause a minimum 1 Physical
injury and a minimum 1 stun injury. this makes over casting less attractive
to high body mages and isn't hugely game limiting.

Yeah, that meshes with what I and others have found. Stun is no go, but
physical, even if its caused by drain, is viable. This potentially makes
overcastting very useful, especially at times when you can stop to heal
yourself (such as prep work).

Ah well. First House rule of the system for my group I guess.
